Our commitment to excellence continues with another successful completion, this time, the Houghton le Spring Retail Park project.

Working on the construction of two units for Robertson Construction, each with its unique demands, these projects showcased our reliability, high standards, and ability to continue to work well under tricky conditions.

The project involved the erection of two distinct units. Unit 1, for Tesco and unit 2 for Home Bargains, utilising 230 tons and 60-70 tons of steel, respectively. Our task was to create structures of hot-rolled steel.

Unit 2 was erected within 7-8 weeks from order to on-site presence, with the entire process, start to finish, complete in an impressive 10 weeks. Showcasing our organisational skills and consistency in always ensuring efficient operations.

A return visit will take place to install the plant room and complete the canopy. 

Tesco's evolving design for generators meant we had to wait before further fabrication could take place. A tower crane will be required to lift the plant room steel work into the existing space. These return visits, carefully collaborated, are dependent on the completion of others' tasks.

We were also able to continue working onsite despite some challenging conditions! During the relentless rainfall that inundated the site, our team exhibited determination to not let it get in the way of our progress. Despite the challenges, our steel, designated to uphold Tesco's immaculate standards, remained bright white.

The recognition of our work flowed in, highlighting our commitment to health and safety. The external inspector stated, “Everything was well controlled despite difficult conditions. The Robertson’s site manager was highly impressed with the team.”

The Houghton Le Spring Retail Park project stands tall, not just as a physical testament to our construction but as a showcase of overcoming challenges.
